Vascular lasers target blood vessels and redness, and are useful for spider veins, telangiectasias, red face from rosacea, vascular birthmarks such as portwine stain and hemangiomas, red keloid scars, and post-acne redness.
Vascular lasers target haemoglobin in blood vessels to heat up the vessels from within. This damages the wall of the blood vessel and promotes the sealing up of the vessel over the next few weeks. Sauna, alcohol, exercise and any activity that causes more blood to flow through the treated area should be avoided for 5 days after treatment to improve the efficacy of treatment. Several treatments are usually required to see improvement.
Some conditions can be treated without downtime, while others may have a purplish or bruise-like discolouration lasting 2-3 weeks. Do discuss your concerns with our doctor.
