Electrosurgery is a procedure in which the skin is numbed and a small electric needle is used to remove, incise or destroy tissue. It is used to treat the following conditions:

  • benign skin lesions, such as angiomas, skin tags and seborrhoeic warts
  • actinic keratoses (AKs), which are premalignant skin lesions
  • genital warts that result from human papillomavirus (HPV) infection

This is usually performed in the clinic with the administration of numbing creams or local anaesthetic injection.
